A member of the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ), Izzuddin Che Din, pleaded not guilty at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court today to two counts of blackmail and a charge of spreading the nude photograph of a woman secretary.

The charge was read before Magistrate Aizatul Akmal Maharani.

On the first charge, Izzuddin, 62, was accused of threatening to spread the nude photograph of the 41-year-old victim via a handphone at Cheras Heights, Taman Segar, Cheras at 1.23am on Feb 14 while on the second charge, the accused was alleged to have threatened to spread the victim's nude photograph at the same place at 6.11pm on Feb 15.

On both counts, the accused was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail term of two years or a fine of RM2,000 or both, upon conviction.

Izzuddin also faced a charge of spreading five pornographic photographs to the woman at the same place between 1.04am and 2.10am between Feb 13 and Feb 15.

For this offence, he was charged under Section 5 (1) (b) of the Film Censorship Act 2002 which carries a jail term of not more than five years, or a fine of not more than RM50,000 or both, upon conviction.

Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Norasyikin Ahmad applied for bail of RM10,000 for the three charges.

Izzuddin later appealed to the court to reduce the bail as he was unemployed and suffering from diabetes and hypertension and needed money to treat his illnesses.

"I have promised the police that I will not disturb the victim and the offence is my first," he said.

Aizatul then allowed the accused bail of RM6,000 with one surety and fixed May 12 for mention and for the accused to appoint a lawyer.
