The Malaysia Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) reiterated today that it is prepared to meet private eye P Balasubramaniam wherever and whenever he is comfortable to be interviewed.

In a written reply to Segambut DAP MP Lim Lip Eng, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz said that MACC's investigation on Balasubramaniam is still going on.

Balasubramaniam p balasubramaniam private investigator altantuya murder case ( left) had claimed in an interview posted on Youtube last year that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's younger brother Nazim had offered him RM5 million to retract a statutory declaration linking the premier to slain Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu.

The private investigator had then fled the country with his family on July 5, 2008, after making the retraction and a second declaration that contradicted the contents of the first.

Lim asked whether MACC is willing to travel up to England to record Balasubramaniam's statement with the presence of the latter lawyer.

"MACC will record Balasubramaniam's statement in any location he prefers," stated Mohd Nazri.

Only 17 cases involving int'l students

International students who wish to continue studying in Malaysia must meet certain conditions before their student passes are renewed, said Deputy Higher Education Minister Saifuddin Abdullah.

saifuddin abdullah Saifuddin (right ) was replying to Sekijang BN MP Baharum Mohamed on actions taken by the government to ensure that the students were here genuinely for educational purposes and were not involved in criminal activities.

The minister said that the students who apply to come here must be sponsored by their governments and must obtain approvals from their countries' embassies.

"The ministry is also working with the Home Ministry, particularly the immigration department, to enhance efficiency in the management of international students," said Saifuddin.

He told the House that based on statistics, there were only 17 cases reported to the police involving international students.

A large number of these cases involve intimidation, theft and molestation as well as rape and causing harm.

The students are also required to achieve 80 percent attendance in their classes and secure good results in order to renew their passes.
