Monetary reward was the driving force behind the recent defection of three PKR MPs, according to a statement from party information chief Latheefa Koya.
She alleged that the Barisan Nasional was behind the turn about of Bayan Baru MP Zahrain Hashim, Nibong Tebal MP Tan Tee Beng and Bagan Serai MP Mohsin Fadzli Sansuri.
According to Latheefa, it is not a coincidence that these MPs had suddenly decided to build an ‘independent bloc'.
"PKR just cannot compete with the BN when it comes to monetary rewards," she said.
She also claimed that former PKR secretary-general Salehuddin Hashim had facilitated the move and had manipulated the MPs.
"It is no surprise that Salehuddin had been present at the last few press conferences of the defectors," Latheefa added.
She said that these are attempts by BN to undermine the will of the people and destroy PKR.
However, she said that the party is confident that these defections will only make them stronger.
