In the mainstream media, it would appear that PKR is on the verge of going under. In my view, this is certainly far from the truth.

Our country is still young as far as political development is concerned. Despite the fact that we have gone through a period of about 53 years of independence, we have only known one party governing the country.

Yes, we have opposition parties but as far as the people are concerned these parties were ‘no hopers’ until the last general election on March 8, 2008. It was a wake up call for everybody.

Overnight, we realised that there is hope for our country to change for the better. We can now look forward to a clean government in the foreseeable future.

However, many of the candidates fielded in the last general election came from the BN pool of ‘experienced’ politician and these are the only people available in light of our short history of independence.

As we are aware, BN’s experienced politicians are generally tainted with corruption or cronyism.

To cut a long story short, PKR is in the process of cleaning out the party of these rubbish. I am confident that it augurs well for PKR in the future.
