Federal Territories (FT) PKR is questioning a news report which claimed that four of its members defected to Umno.

According to Bernama yesterday, FT PKR treasurer Norasidi Salim resigned together with four party colleagues.

The report said they were Putrajaya deputy chief Azmi Hassan and committee member Daud Ahmad, former FT PKR information chief Ishak Hamzah and reformasi activist Mohd Solleh Ibrahim.

“While it is true that Norasidi resigned, it is not the case with the others,” clarified FT PKR information chief Othman Karim today.

He claimed that Norasidi contacted him yesterday to announce his resignation, citing personal reasons, but did not mention joining Umno.

Othman said there the news report was misleading because it named Ishak as the FT information chief.

“Ishak is no longer the FT information chief. He resigned from the post six months ago. I have since taken over,” he said.

“As far as I know, Mohd Solleh has never joined PKR, therefore it is quite impossible for him to resign from the party,” he added.

‘Not even a member’

Othman also clarified that there was no mass resignation by Bandar Tun Razak PKR division members as claimed by Norasidi.

“I have no idea who those 100 members (who purportedly) resigned from PKR to join Umno are,” he added.

Meanwhile, PKR Putrajaya Division chief Onn Abu Bakar claimed Azmi is not even a member of the division.

“It is unthinkable that he claims to be my deputy when his name is not even in our leadership line-up,” he said.

Onn said he has spoken to Daud, who denied any intention to quit PKR and join Umno.

“Daud is disappointed that such allegations has surfaced,” he added.
