The Selangor government proposes to build 1,442 semi-detached terrace houses on 55.8 hectare of land under the Bukit Botak

development plan to resolve the housing issue for the relocation of squatters in Bukit Botak, Selayang.

The press secetariat of the Selangor menteri besar's office in a statement today said the houses will be sold to settlers and owners of land in the area at RM90,000 although the actual market value was estimated to be around RM175,000.

With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and built on 2,200 square feet with a modern design, and with high commercial value, the project is expected to be ready in 20-40 months and will give Bukit Botak a new image.

"The development proposal can only be carried out after the cancellation of the agreement between the residents and the previous developer following the taking over of the Bukit Botak land," the statement said.

According to the statement, the taking over of the land from the developer as announced by the state government was to return the rights of the residents.

The statement said settlers and land owners who agree to the proposal have to sign a form issued by the Gombak Land Office before more forms to affirm house ownership can be drawn up.

"For those who agree with the proposal but do not wish to stay in Bukit Botak or those who do not qualify for a bank loan, the state government can sell the houses on their behalf at a commercial value and give the money from the sale to them," the statement said.

"For those who do not agree to the Bukit Botak development plan, they are only qualified to receive compensation for the taking over of their land by the state government and have no right to the house that will be built," it added.
