Fissures fester in PKR

Cala: Cracked lines are on the walls. Is the house about to crumble? As almost every politician is self- interested, the disgruntled ones would ultimately seek greener pasture elsewhere. Yes, in a democratic country, who else can dissuade him to do otherwise?

But two or three MPs purportedly ripe for defection to the BN coalition would not necessarily result in the collapse of the whole house. Even if it can contribute to it, I suggest that the political struggle towards one's goal be viewed in the long-term basis. Rome was not built overnight. So what is there to fear?

Nicholas Lim: After all the hard work we put in to ensure Umno loses its two-thirds majority in Parliament, these fools will gladly hand it back to Umno on a silver platter. At least, we can rally people again in the next general election. Please show yourselves now. Don't skulk around in the darkness making dirty deals like rats.

Habib Rak: Zahrain Mohd Hashim, Zulkifli Noordin and others like them can and will pursue their selfish interests as they see fit to satisfy their egos. Yes, this may give Umno/BN some edge. But it will only be a temporary win for Umno/BN.

As a whole, the people are more savvy and learned than in the past. The people now know, as a matter of fact, that they can make a change despite the overwhelming odds against them. Umno/BN's continued disregard to the wishes of the majority of the people wish will lead them to the exit in the next general election.

Lonestar: Effecting change is never easy, especially when faced with a behemoth like the BN. This beast, which has been running Malaysia for more than half a century, is not just going to allow change to occur without a fight. It is going to attack where ever possible, even the tiniest of chinks in the weak Pakatan armour. And Pakatan has many, many weak links.

These people never dreamed that PKR would show such a stellar showing in 12th general election . When it did, they still had in the Umno mentality of ‘what's in it for me?' ‘This is my opportunity to get positions and get rich quick as the Umnoputras have done and have enjoyed doing so.

Umno is already crowded with rent-seekers, and with the pie getting smaller after the 12th GE, most Umno grassroots are deprived of the rich-picking higher up.

People like Zulkifli, Hasan Ali and Zahrain have now become the targets of Umno to shore up the seats it lost in Parliament so that they can get their two-thirds majority back to mutilate the constitution again as Dr Mahathir Mohamad did. They can, thereby, make themselves invincible and be able to hold on to power indefinitely.

Doc: Prior to GE 12, Pakatan filled up the parliamentary and state seats with candidates without doing the necessary screening. Unfortunately, now Pakatan is saddled with half-baked PKR frogs (Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu and Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi of Perak), Umno sleepers (Zahrain of PKR, Hasan Ali of PAS), greedy (Hee Yit Foong of DAP) and some plain idiots (Zulkifli Noordin of PKR) parliamentarians.

A few bad sheep are giving a bad name to the rest of the hardworking flock. Pakatan needs to get rid of these riff-raff as soon as possible, or else the rakyat will get rid of Pakatan in the next election.

Jeremy Tankh: When there's a rotten apple (like Zulkifli) in the basket, you need to quickly remove it before the worms begin to move to another apple (like Zahrain). Then, you will be forced to remove/rescue more apples or face the possibility of the disintegration of the whole lot (PKR).

The same can be said of PAS, as far as its Selangor commissioner Hasan Ali is concerned. A decisive, bold and confident leadership is much needed at a time when the ship is sailing in choppy waters.

CTTEO: So, the reason why the Umnoputras want a two-thirds majority in Parliament in the next GE is clear: the gerrymandering of the parliamentary and state constituencies! Well, so be it.

The opposition had survived many such maneuvers by the Umnoputras in the past. The rakyat that yearns for change must not be held at ransom by these unprincipled rascals.

MorningSun!: I call upon all the good leaders of Pakatan to stay firm during this very important moment, when all the crooks, opportunists and spies, etc, will surface one by one and attempt to frustrate Pakatan's plans.

The top leaders must not hesitate to take action on all of them when they surfaced, because even the two-thirds representation will be affected. This type of house-cleaning process cannot be avoided. Only then, can Pakatan evolve into a stronger coalition.

Besides waiting for good leaders to join Pakatan, Pakatan must nurture good leaders. I suggest Pakatan organises speech and debating contests at the branch, division and central level, just like ‘Malaysia Idol' and ‘The Super Star'. More and more stars will emerge.

This way, all Pakatan leaders will become well-known to all Malaysians. It will be an opportunity for those talented and ambitious individuals, too! A star nurtured by Pakatan will be more faithful to Pakatan.

Rocky: These MPs can jump ship. The politically-correct thing for them to do would be to be ‘BN-friendly' independents. If so, go ahead. Next GE, the rakyat would not be kind to them should they seek re-election.
