Pakatan's two-prong campaign in Perak

Pakatan Rakyat will launch a two-prong election campaign to win over the hearts and minds of rural Malays and the neglected Orang Asli community in Perak.
Pakatan Rakyat will launch a two-prong election campaign to win over the hearts and minds of rural Malays and the neglected Orang Asli community in Perak.
The three coalition parties of DAP, PKR and PAS will travel into the interiors of the state and give ceramahs to enlighten the rural Malays on the actual political scenario in the state to counter the Umno propaganda churned out by the mainstream print and electronic media.
The Orang Asli community will be visited by Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) which have strong grassroots contact with them.
Ousted Pakatan menteri besar Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin, in outlining the strategy, said the rural Malays are living in poverty without the basic amenities of proper housing, electricity and piped water supply.
"Yet they are brainwashed by BN with their powerful propaganda machinery into voting for them," he added.
He said the urban voters with their contact with the alternative media, are supportive of Pakatan's political philosophy but the coalition is not able to reach out to the rural Malays who are greatly influenced by BN's propaganda.
Pakatan's task would be to convince the rural Malays that their basic rights as Malaysians have been sidelined by BN and only Pakatan can uplift their economic status.
Massive rally
As the Federal Court is set to give its verdict on Feb 9, on the case of Nizar versus Zambry Abd Kadir as to who is the legitimate menteri besar of Perak , the state PAS Youth wing is organising a mammoth gathering of 10,000 youths at Darul Talim at Kubu Gajah in Selama on Sunday.
This 'Himpunan Pemuda PAS Perak' programme is to show moral support for Nizar’s legal battle and also to reach out to the rural Malays in the Larut district.
The one-day carnival meet is expected to see many PAS state and national leaders give fiery political speeches to highlight the economic plight of the rural Malays.
The various events include a voters registration exercise, membership drive, a blood donation campaign and a stage show.
