Enforcement officers seized a car and sealed 46,400 litres of petrol at a service station in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas, last night after the operator allowed a customer to fill the fuel in a plastic drum.

The officers, from the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry, acted at about 9.30pm after keeping watch on the station, the ministry's deputy director in Kelantan, Rosli Ahmad, said today.

"Our officers saw a local car pull up and fill 11 litres of petrol into a plastic drum," he told reporters.

Rosli said the officers detained the car and sealed 46,400 litres of RON95 petrol at the station, all valued at RM91,546, and added that the station had violated the law prohibiting the purchase of fuel using plastic drums.

"The service station operator can be fined up to RM100,000 or sentenced to three months in jail upon conviction," he said.
