Nine sand smuggling suspects released

Nine suspects detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in connection with sand smuggling activities have been released on bail.

The suspects were taken to Kajang Magistrate's Court at 10.45am today and released with bail of RM1,000 to RM10,000 each with one surety.
The nine including a woman had been remanded for five days to assist investigation into sand smuggling cases.
MACC deputy chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull announced that 38 people had been detained for their involvement in sand smuggling activities in five states.
Sources said 28 had been released on bail while ten others ten were still on remand.
