Here is the latest gem from the inspector-general of police on how Malaysians were ‘apathetic ‘in assisting police to curb crime:

Quote: ‘They want everything to be done by the government. Abroad, the public helps the police and even go to the extent of chiding those who flout the law.

‘For example, as I was crossing the road in Amsterdam, a child reprimanded me for crossing the road when the light was red, saying 'Sir, don't walk! It's red. Wrong! It's red'.

‘In Malaysia, we just walk without obeying traffic rules.’

Now, where is the uproar from his boss the home minister who happily extended his tenure? The top cop in the country does not even understand that ‘red’ means stop? Now, what could be his excuse? Pick one:
 
1. The reporter misquoted him

2. He is colour-blind

3. He thought red lights were just suggestions

4. He was smoking some funny stuff in Amsterdam

5. He thought Amsterdam was like Malaysia where rules only apply to some and not others

6. He was confused the traffic light for a red-light district

7. He was testing the boy to see if the latter knew the rules

8. He was upset and pre-occupied by Raja Petra Kamrudin’s exposes

9. He lied, the incident never happened but he was hard-pressed for an example

10. He was just being Malaysian
