A Malaysia Makkal Sakti Party central committee (CC) member has denied the existence of an "inquiry committee" within the party, which "terminated" the membership of party president RS Thanenthiran yesterday.

Dr PC Saravanan said there was no discussion to deliberate the formation of "inquiry committee" within the party at the CC level.

malaysia makkal sakti party official launch 190509 05He said Thanenthiran had not given his consent for such a committee to be formed in the party.

"If the central committee members can actually endorse a decision without having the president chair the meeting, I guess, Makkal Sakti would be the first political party whose central committee members are more powerful than the president.

"It is very clear that central committee members who are against Thanenthiran would do anything they like in an attempt to topple the president and bring their choice to run the party," he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, a faction led by party deputy president A Vathemoorthy "sacked" Thanenthiran after he failed to respond to several allegations levelled against him.

The decision to expel the 46-year-old Thanenthiran was made by 14 out of the 27 CC members during an hour-long "inquiry committee" meeting held at the party headquarters.

The 14 also decided at the meeting that all appointment made by Thanenthiran in his capacity as president, without consulting the central committee, would now be null and void.

Thanenthiran however, did not attend yesterday's CC meeting and was said to be in India on a pilgrimage.
