Why are we, Sabah PKR, still waiting? Never ever wait to be a leader. The year 2010 is not going to be a honeymoon year for Sabah PKR’s members and leaders. The state PKR must start to approach the young people. Find those that are already entitled to vote and enroll them to be the voters if they are not yet registered.

Sabah PKR’s has 25 divisional information offices in all Sabah. The best way is to sit down and constitute an Information Bureau. The function of this bureau will be to go from house-to-house to register new voters who have just turned 21.

Sabah PKR chief information officer should brief the rest of divisional information chiefs and arrange various outdoor and indoor activities. A sports sub-committee should be set up in each and every PKR division throughout Sabah which means that every division should have their own football/futsal/volleyball/netball teams. Later on, we could organise friendly matches amongst the various divisional sport teams.

We also should constitute an Arts and Literature Bureau. This bureau is mainly for those party member who have an interest in singing etc. Once in a while, a karaoke-singing competition should take place. I believes this will attract more young people to PKR.

Other thing is to make time for the Information Bureau to approach the various places and have discussions with the voters. Arrange some talks to discuss about the high living cost that all of us are facing now. Discuss with them heart to heart.

From these discussion, make a resolution for them to demand the government to reduce the high cost of living the suburban people are faced with.

The state chief information officer should appoint the younger party members to be ‘bureau monitors’ and their duties will be to monitor any increment in the various school fees. They will also be tasked with explaining to the parents that school fees are supposed to be borne by the government.

Take the initiative to form various bureaus from the young people to give them an opportunity to identify the villagers’ problems and to give them space to approach the villagers and brief them on the present issues. Let the villagers be alert towards what is happening in our country now.

And, of course, all the above said activities need funds. So the chief information officer should also look for a sponsor. Get them to sponsor the various sporting activities under their banner.

One thing for sure, in order for us to achieve in the coming general elections, the key person to make this happen is actually is the party’s chief information officer. The state chairman is not the only person to be responsible.

Without the hard work and cooperation from the chief information officer, don't ever dream of winning any election.
