The Universiti Malaya's Student Representative Council today urged the campus management to review the implementation of the e-voting system for the campus election in January to avoid manipulation by certain parties.

The council's exco member, Mohd Aizad Mohd said, they were not suggesting the abolishment of e-voting, but wanted the system to be monitored.

"The issue now is not the e-voting system, but interference from various parties to ensure their candidate of choice wins using the system. We have suggested in the memo for this system to be modified," he said after handing a memorandum on the matter to Universiti Malaya vice-chancellor Dr Ghauth Jasmon at his office today.

Mohd Aizad also hoped the university would form a special independent body to supervise the election process.

In the hour-long meeting with the vice-chancellor, the council's exco members also discussed the campus election process using the e-voting system and other issues related to election democracy for the future of the campus.
