PAS President and Opposition Leader Fadzil Mohd Noor's condition is improving and he is able to respond to questions with physical gestures, said his political secretary Dr Hatta Ramli today.

The 65-year-old PAS leader had underwent a heart bypass surgery at the Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur two weeks ago.

"On the whole, his recovery is good and we can even understand his gestures," said Hatta.

Asked when Fadzil is expected to be brought out from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), he said that would depend on the doctors, adding that the PAS president was still being monitored closely by the specialists.

After undergoing the five-hour surgery on June 10, Fadzil was said to be in critical condition and had been unconscious for a week.
