Perak forgotten in 2010 budget

DAP Perak today claimed that unlike other states, Perak received no allocations in the 2010 budget, which was tabled by Premier and Finance Minister Najib Abdul Razak in Parliament recently.

DAP state secretary Nga Kor Ming claimed that such allocations were channelled through the respective state economic development corporations and Perak was left out.
To back his statement, Nga showed the 2010 federal budget book to the media at the state's DAP headquarters here this afternoon.
It showed other states which received allocations, with Pahang receiving the most at RM154 million and Penang the lowest allocation at RM27.9 million.
Nga challenged Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir on whether he would lobby for the allocations for Perak from Najib or be quiet.
He wondered aloud how Zambry was "going to develop the state without such federal allocations."
Attempts to contact Zambry for a reaction were not successful.
DAP to hold state and national conventions
On another matter, Nga said that the state's DAP party convention will be held at the Grand Tower Hotel on Nov 29 (Sunday).
He claimed that there is a 300 percent increase in the party membership with 180 branches statewide.
The function, to be attended by 1260 delegates, will debate 26 resolutions and party secretary-general and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is expected to officiate.
Nga said that the Malaysian DAP Congress attended by about 1,000 delegates would be held Jan 17 next year at a local hotel.
On the on-going feud between the MCA's top leaders, Nga suggested that Najib be made MCA president to stabilise the Chinese-based party like former deputy premier Ghafar Baba had done for 11 months.
