A post-mortem report has confirmed that the death of a detainee at the Air Molek prison on Sunday was a suicide by hanging, said Johor deputy police chief Jalaluddin Ab Rahman.

There were no signs of foul play, he told reporters at the state police contingent in Johor Bahru today.

J Saravanan, 22, who charged with the murder of his mother, hanged himself using a pillow cover and a face towel tied a bar of his cell door, according to the police.
