Take time out, Muhyiddin tells MCA

Deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the MCA may need more time to calm down and resolve the party's internal
crisis.

He also hoped that the party leaders could resolve the problems faced by the MCA in a more cautious manner so that the situation would not deteriorate.

Muhyiddin (right), who is in Rome to attend the World Food Security Summit, said this to Malaysian journalists when asked on the latest development in the MCA.

MCA president Ong Tee Keat today announced that the party central committee had rejected the EGM to be held on Nov 28 by the faction led by vice present Liow Tiong Lai.

Ong also appointed new members to the presidential council after dropping Youth chief Wee Ka Siong and Wanita head Chew Mei Fun, staunch supporters Liow.

'Stick to Greater Unity Plan'

Muhyiddin, who is also the deputy chairman of Barisan Nasional (BN), said MCA leaders must adhere to the Greater Unity Plan (GUP) drawn up to resolve the party's internal crisis immediately.

In fact, the MCA must look for an intermediary in resolving the party problem if "people within the party do not get any support".

"This is normal. In fact even at international conferences, we have to find an intermediary to resolve issues," he said.
