A scheduled 'courtesy call' by Pakatan Rakyat MPs to the Maju Institute of Education Development (MIED) tomorrow has hit a snag, as the chairperson of the organisation S Samy Vellu is demanding that the group submit a official letter first.

Yesterday, Padang Serai MP N Gobalakrishnan announced that he and several Pakatan MPs would be visiting MIED's office to seek clarification on the Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology University (Aimst).

Aimst is operated by MIED, which functions as the education arm of MIC. However, MIED has been plagued by controversy lately over alleged misappropriation of funds.

Former CEO to file lawsuit

Gobalakrishnan said the Pakatan MPs would be using Parliament’s bus to ferry them to MIED office tomorrow, which is housed in the MIC headquarters along Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur.

The MP is concerned over Samy Vellu’s remarks in September that he would be resigning as party president soon to spend time in MIED and Aimst which he claims are entities separate from the MIC.

Tomorrow, MIED's former chief executive officer P Chithitikala Vasu is expected to file a defamation suit against the MIC president, his wife and Tamil daily, Tamil Nesan .
