BN appointed Speaker R Ganesan (left) told Malaysiakini yesterday that both seats will be taken up by BN on account that it is the ruling party.
"We will nominate two persons for the posts when the state budget for 2010 is presented during the three-day assembly sitting on Oct 28," he said.
Ganesan added there are three agendas for the assembly sitting - the presentation of the state budget by Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir, voting on the nomination of two BN members for the two senators' posts and the passing of two enactments.
Pakatan had a closed-door, brainstorming session last week at state PAS headquarters to select a suitable candidate for nomination for the senator's post.
The names proposed by BN and Pakatan will be put to a vote during the assembly, and BN with its 31 supporters as opposed to Pakatan's 28 is expected to bag the posts.
'Use all legal power to keep Pakatan out'
Ganesan, however, asserted that the two senators' seats "were reserved only for BN members and not Pakatan."
"If Pakatan wants one of the senators' posts, they must give up one of their senators' seats in Kelantan and Kedah (where Pakatan controls the state governments) to BN," he said sarcastically.
"The majority and the ruling party will always be entitled to the two senators' posts and in no way will we give up one of these seats to Pakatan," he declared.
When asked who the two BN nominees for the senators' posts are, he said: "Zambry will make the announcement when the time is right."
The possibility of Pakatan seizing control of the assembly on Oct 28 is remote as tight security measures have been put in place to ensure the proceedings run smoothly.
Ganesan said: "I will use all the legal powers as Speaker to make sure that they do not disrupt the budget sitting."
