Pakatan Rakyat parliamentarians met yesterday to gear up for Budget 2010 which will be tabled by Finance Minister Najib Abdul Razak on Friday.

Chaired by opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, the 90-minute meeting saw all three parties giving their input on the budget.

"Later, we will synchronise all three positions," said Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng ( below ).

In July, it was announced that three Pakatan MPs - one from each party - will be assigned to a Pakatan cabinet committee corresponding to the 25 federal ministries.

The debate on the budget will be the first major test of Pakatan's new system, which mirrors the shadow cabinet system used in many democracies.

"The meeting (yesterday) was to ensure that the committee system we announced (in July) functions properly," said Rasah MP Loke Siew Foke.

Thus far, DAP is the sole Pakatan coalition member to have released an alternative budget.
