Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said today there were quarters which went to the extent of hurling allegations at the good intention of the government and its leader Najib Abdul Razak when the 1Malaysia concept was introduced.

For these quarters, the 1Malaysia concept was a rhetoric when in fact it was a philosophy to see the people help one another and foster the spirit of camaraderie, he said.

"The majority or minority is not important because the people come under 1Malaysia. Everyone has a right under the constitution. That's why the BN (Barisan Nasional) policies are just and give consideration to all regardless of religious and cultural background," he said at a meeting with members of the Indian Muslim community in Port Dickson.

Muhyiddin said the support of the Indian Muslim community was most appreciated by the government although their organisation, Kongres India Muslim Malaysia (Kimma), was not a BN member.

No understanding in Pakatan

He said the opposition had made various statements questioning the government's policies apparently in an attempt to expose alleged weaknesses.

Muhyiddin said the opposition was trying to create hatred towards the government but the people knew that over the last 52 years the government had strived to bring development and had raised the status of the country to an enviable position.

"We hope the people will not be influenced by the propaganda of the opposition. The people must realise that in difficult situations, only the BN can champion their plight," he said.

He said the people had seen that in the few months that the Pakatan Rakyat had come to power, none of its policies could be jointly accepted by the DAP, PKR and PAS.

"This goes to show that there is no understanding among them," he said.

He said that as a leader he was concerned that the people would not be taken care of under their leadership as it was evident they did not help in the progress of the community.
