EC tells Pakatan to register as a party

Lee Hwa Beng: I have done the necessary things within my power in the PKFZ (Port Klang Free Zone) issue. I have lodged reports with MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) and the police. I have also taken suits against KDSB (Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd) and other parties.

Every time I did these things, I revealed all in the press which most people normally do not. As such, I have received two defamation suits from KDSB. The rest is up to the courts, police and the MACC.

When you are servants of political parties, you will ‘bend' with the party, calling a black cat as a white cat and vice versa.

We taxpayers are paying thousands of ringgit per person for PFKZ so the people wouldn't waste their time criticising for nothing.

Billions of ringgit going down the drain so should we - the rakyat of Malaysia - just sit tight and watch?

Justice for the victims of crime too, okay?

Simon: I agree with the writer that we should sympathise with the victims of crime and many of us have been victims ourselves. However, this does not mean that we should condemn a suspect and condone such behaviour from the police.

A person is innocent until proven guilty but I guess that does not ring a bell with the writer. Is he suggesting, by that same standard, that Teoh Beng Hock's death is also justified?

The issue here is justice for A Kugan who died in police custody. If he was guilty, then he should have been charged in court and his guilt proven - not murdered in the manner that it happened.

If not we might as well amend the law to say that the police or the government will not be held responsible for the death of a detainee while under detention. What do you think?

Car prices: Haven't we sacrificed enough already?

Louis: I agree with the writer that we have sacrificed more than enough just to prop up our national cars.

On the other hand, if the national car producers can come up with cars in the same class as Toyota, Honda or Nissan, it is worth my sacrifice. But it was not to be.

The more we scarifice for their sake, the poorer the quality of the cars produced. Cars like Hyundai, which started at the same time, have already taken the world by storm while our national car is still gasping for breath just to stay afloat.

What annoys me most is that we, the poor wage earners, have to contend with poor quality cars which do not come cheap but those politicians are cruising in top-end limousines.

Just to show that they are proud of the national cars, they only use them for official functions. Oh yes, let us not forget that their children too drive foreign brands more often than not.

In short, our sacrifice is really in vain.
