Lim ready 'anytime, anywhere' for debate with Koh

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is ready "anytime and anywhere" to take on Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Koh Tsu Koon in a live telecast debate without pre-conditions.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is ready "anytime and anywhere" to take on Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Koh Tsu Koon in a live telecast debate without pre-conditions.
The DAP secretary-general told reporters today that he could debate with the Gerakan president, even at the Gerakan or Umno headquarters, provided there were no conditions.
He said this when asked to comment on the status of the debate between the two leaders on the Kampung Buah Pala issue.
The debate was mooted by Gerakan for the state government to answers several questions pertaining to the demolition of Kampung Buah Pala.
Nevertheless, the chief minister said there was no necessity to de-classify minutes of the state executive council meeting on the Kampang Buah Pala issue as requested by Koh.
"The current state government did not make a single decision in favour of the cooperative or developers...I did not sign any document in favour of any party, so there is no point in de-classifying the minutes," he said.
The Gerakan president had previously said he was willing to the debate but only if two conditions were met.
The three questions
Koh demanded that Lim make public all relevant documents including minutes of state exco meetings and answer "fully and truthfully" three simple basic questions on the Kampung Buah Pala issue.
The three questions for Lim were:
1) Did Pakatan Rakyat leaders, especially DAP, promise the Kampung Buah Pala residents, before and during general elections 2008, that they can own and stay on the land which will not be allowed to be developed, if DAP and its allies are voted into power?
2) What has been the actual legal status of the land where Kampung Buah Pala was situated? That is, before alienating to the Penang state civil service cooperative, did the land actually belong to the state government or the residents?
3) Why he (Lim) allowed the transfer of the land title to be effected on March 27, 2008, almost three weeks after being voted into power on March 8 and after the residents met him on March 12?
Both Lim and Koh had a televised debate over land issues in August last year.
