MPAJ gets it right

For years, I have complained to MPAJ about the drain fronting my house not being cleaned and the thick undergrowth on the vacant piece of land behind my house not being cleared.
I had even gone to the extent of handing copies of my letters to the co-chairman of Pemudah who were trying to make MPAJ a pilot study of a model local council. Nothing happened!
Yesterday, I tried my luck again. I wrote in and visited MPAJ about the above-mentioned issues at about 10.30am. And lo and behold, I couldn't believe my eyes when an officer from MPAJ by the name of Daniel visited my house at perhaps 3pm to discuss the contents of my letter.
He even volunteered to visit the unkempt vacant plot of land behind my house. By the time I returned from dinner, the bags of sand and pile of garden waste that had been left there for perhaps two weeks were removed. I was impressed! Talk about a fast public service delivery system. MPAJ could indeed be a model.
For that I wish to commend the MPAJ on its new attitude in serving the residents. I shall elaborate to illustrate this new service customer friendly attitude that has taken place.
Previously, my visits to the MPAJ counter were greeted in a less than welcome manner. The staff seemed to be going through the motions of receiving and filing my complaint letter. On one occasion, an officer even ventured to ask me to provide the contact person of the vacant piece of land when I had mentioned the name of the public listed company who owned the land in my letter. I would rate that as being not very helpful.
I certainly hope that this new attitude is due to the MPAJ staff being more responsive to the "Ketuanan Rakyat" philosophy promulgated by the current Pakatan Rakya government of Selangor. The back to basics service orientated approach augurs well for the future. If this should continue, MPAJ will be viewed in a more favourable light by the public in time to come.
