Air quality in the country continued to improve today when 32 or 65 percent of the 50 areas monitored for Air Pollutant Index (API) showed good readings, while 18 other areas or 35 percent, remained moderate.

According to the Department of Environment's (DoE) website, up till 11am, no areas in the country recorded unhealthy reading.

Among areas with moderate API reading were Kota Tinggi (65), Larkin (73), Muar (65), Pasir Gudang (70) in Johor; Balok Baru (81), Indera Mahkota (60), Jerantut (51) in Pahang; Kemaman ((63), Paka (62) in Terengganu; Nilai (53) in Negeri Sembilan.

Country Heights, Kajang (59), Kuala Selangor (56), Port Klang (68), Petaling Jaya (53), Shah Alam (55) in Selangor also recorded moderate reading along with Batu Muda (58), Cheras (58) in Kuala Lumpur and Tanah Merah (51) in Kelantan.

An API reading of 0 to 50 is considered good, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (hazardous).
