Former Selangor menteri besar Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo said he extended his full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday.

"I have nothing to hide. I gave them my full assistance and provided them with whatever they requested including bills (of payments)," he told Malaysiakini today.

khir toyo"This is not the first time I'm being called up by the MACC. I've been visited four to five times before," said Khir, the state opposition leader.

Khir (right) was responding after a six-hour questioning session by the MACC at the commission's headquarters in Putrajaya.

The investigation was in relation to his trip with state subsidiary Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB) to Morocco in 2004.

He said he was also quizzed on his Balinese-themed palatial mansion in Section 7, Shah Alam which is allegedly worth RM24 million.

However, Khir, who is also Sungai Panjang assemblyperson refused to elaborate on the matter as the investigation by MACC is ongoing.

Khir also refuted claims that he was questioned over the alleged abuse of Balkis (Wives of Selangor elected representatives association) funds as reported in English daily the Star yesterday.

"The investigation has nothing to do with Balkis, it is just about my trip to Morocco," he said.

Legal action against newspaper

The paper had quoted director of investigations, Sazali Salbi, as saying that the MACC was investigating Khir over the purchase of his palatial mansion in Shah Alam as well as alleged abuse of Balkis funds.

In the wake of the report, Khir is planning to take legal action against the paper.

NONE"I have sent them (the newspaper) a letter of demand. If they do not respond within 14 days, we will file a suit against them," he said.

The newspaper also claimed that Khir had used the basement entrance to enter the MACC office and left at 2.30pm unnoticed by pressmen who were waiting outside the lobby of the headquarters from 8am.

However, Khir denied this, saying that he had no knowledge that the press had been waiting for him to ask for comments.

"I did not know that they were waiting for me. Otherwise, I would have held a press conference. Besides, I was not well (yesterday) as I was down with fever," he said, adding that he had parked his car at the basement.

He also does not know whether he would be called again by MACC to complete its investigation.

He also urged Pakatan Rakyat leaders in Selangor, including Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and state exco Ronnie Liu not to come up with any excuses to avoid assisting the commission with allegations thrown against them.

"If I can be investigated by MACC, why can't they? MACC is always professional. Khalid and Liu, when they are called up by the commission, should also go. Don't give all sorts of excuses," said Khir.
