MB: Personal problems forced Pakatan rep to lie low

Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today revealed that Pelabuhan Klang PKR assemblyperson Badrul Hisham Abdullah has some ‘personal problems' that have kept him incommunicado for the past month.

That was the reason stated in his response to a show-cause letter sent to him early this month, demanding answers to his inability to serve effectively as a state representative.
"He replied the letter and answered our questions accordingly. Among others, he said he had some personal problems which had prevented him from performing as a state assemblyperson for the time being," Khalid Ibrahim told reporters at the PKR headquarters, Tropicana today.
Without elaborating on the personal problems, Khalid said that he will try to have a discussion with the state representative on Wednesday to solve the mystery of his whereabouts.
According to him, Badrul was scheduled to attend a PKR ceramah in Klang last night with PKR de-factor leader Anwar Ibrahim but he failed to turn up.
"With this, I have decided to hold a discussion with him so this will clear up the confusion among the constituents who have been wondering about his situation," said Khalid.
Badrul, who has been missing in action since August was rumoured to have accepted Barisan Nasional's offer to jump ship.
The rumour was further strengthened following Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's vow to regain industrial state Selangor from Pakatan's hands.
According to the menteri besar, the state government has everything to worry about as "the intention is always reflected not only from the PM's statement, being him being the head of Umno state liaison but others as well".
Anwar: We will counter attack
On the question of whether Badrul was ‘upset' (kecil hati) with Pakatan's state administration, Khalid said that that was not an issue to be raised in the first place.
He pointed out that in terms of responsibility, he had yet deliver on his abilities as a stateassemblyperson. "So there is no question of kecil hati as he still needs to do his job," he said.
Earlier, Anwar had chaired a Pakatan leadership council meeting at the party headquarters deciding on measures to strengthen the secretariat machinery of Pakatan as well as its policies.
He said the Pakatan leadership has agreed to hold a ‘massive convention' on Dec 12 in Selangor with the attendance of hundreds of delegates from each component party.
"We have also discussed with the Selangor menteri besar and all the state leadership on how to face verbal assaults launched by Umno and BN using government machinery to create problems in this state.
"With this, we would like to reiterate our principle that we would defend Selangor and counter attack their violent attempts to get back Selangor," said Anwar.
Today's meeting was also attended by many Pakatan bigwigs including PKR deputy president Syed Husin Ali, veteran DAP leader Lim Kit Siang and PAS secretary-general Mustapha Ali.
