More questions arose following the new political party "Parti Cinta Malaysia" (or PCM), which was found registered yesterday.
Malaysiakini visited the party's registered address in Perai and found that it was a closed bistro. There is no indication that the owner or tenant wished to use the shop house as the political party's operation center.
It is learnt that the bistro had been shut down for about 2 years, but its commercial banner is not yet removed.
According to Penang's Registrar of Societies (ROS), the party's first president is Tang Weng Chew, a 38-year-old director of a food supplier company with Loo Kien Seang and Lim Kim Chu as its secretary and treasurer, respectively.
Malaysiakini has also obtained the party's constitution today, in which it states that the party president is only allowed to serve 3 terms or 9 years.
The constitution states that the division representatives or members will have to elect the Central Executive Committee every 3 years, including one President, one Deputy President, three Vice-Presidents and 20 central committee members.
Every post is allowed to re-elect except a party's president post.
Although the full committee list is yet to be published it is learnt that all the main leaders are Chinese.
The party's first president's (Tang) house and work place were both closed when Malaysiakini journalists visited it yesterday evening.
As for Loo, sources said Loo is currently in Vietnam on a business trip. Loo's father, who chose to remain anonymous, told reporters that he was not aware that his son has joined a political party.
"I have no idea at all, he never told me," he said.
Not related to neither Chua nor Huan
Meanwhile in another development, a source who refers to himself as one of the party founders, again denied that PCM has any link with the sacked MCA deputy president Dr Chua Soi Lek.
Sources also added that PCM (logo, right) has nothing to do with Gerakan Vice President Huan Cheng Guan, who is currently banned for 3 years from his party.
"Huan is only close with some of our party leaders," sources said.
Sources also claimed that the newly registered party has managed to obtain more than 3,000 members so far.
He further claimed that most of the members come from Barisan National chinese-based political parties as well as Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and, even PAS.
"They are fed up with the ruling and opposition parties, especially Pakatan Rakyat," he said.
He claimed that their original plan was to form a "Kelab Cinta Malaysia", but eventually decided to join forces with third parties to form a new political party.
Despite the faster-than-usual registration process, sources denied that PCM is supported by Barisan National.
"We followed the normal procedure to register our new party," stressed the anonymous source.
