IGP: More investigation needed on cow-head protest

The attorney-general has asked the police to further investigate the carrying of a severed cow head in a residents' demonstration in front of the Selangor state secretariat building on Aug 28 to
protest the relocation of a Hindu temple from Section 19 to Section 23.

"We had discussed the matter with the Attorney-General's Chambers three days ago and the AG instructed us to further probe the case, and we are now taking statements to facilitate the investigation," said inspector-general of police Musa Hassan last night.

The police have submitted their investigation papers to the AG’s Chambers earlier this week but was told to do more work and resubmit their papers within 48 hours.

Asked about a candlelight vigil in connection with the 'cow head' incident, planned for tomorrow by certain quarters at Dataran Merdeka, he said police would not hesitate to take stern action against those involved.

"What is the need for the gathering? Don't be impatient to the extent of holding another illegal gathering tomorrow," he told reporters after handing over Raya goodies to officers and widows of the members of the police force in Subang Jaya yesterday.

Filipino’s murder probably linked to sex

In a another development, Musa said a local man in his 20s was arrested to facilitate the investigation into the murder of the Philippine embassy's social attache Finardo G Cabilao on Aug 7.

Musa said there was no link between the murder and human trafficking activities, but probably the motive of the murder had to do with a homosexual relationship.

"It (the murder) was not due to jealousy but it is believed that the suspect was not paid for his service."

He said police were still investigating to get strong evidence such as the DNA of the suspect before reaching any conclusion.

The suspect was arrested on Sept 1 and the murder happened after the victim sought sexual service from the suspect.

Cabilao was found sprawled in a pool of blood with severe head injuries in the living room of his apartment in Taman Maluri, Cheras, on Aug 7.
