PKR, the problem child of Pakatan Rakyat, seems to be suffering from one crisis after another. Lest we forget, the party is the weakest link in the opposition front and their state assemblypersons are the cause of the Perak state government's collapse.

Anwar Ibrahim has stated candidly that there were no proper screenings of their candidates during the last historical polls and unlike their DAP and PAS counterparts, PKR leaders who are elected to high office seems to be of poor quality as their standard is not up to mark.

With the latest incident where the Kedah exco member left the party and become an independent, one will not be surprised if other PKR leaders in the state assembly follow suit.

Even in Selangor, rumours are making rounds that several state assemblypersons are thinking of switching side to the other side. With a lot of DAP leaders under probe for corruption and abuse of power by MACC, one can sympathise with the embattled MB Khalid Ibrahim.

BN with all the government machinery at its disposal will go all the way to topple opposition state government control. If money and positions cannot make their opposite counterparts in the state assembly jump ship, the threat of prison might induce the problematic assemblypersons to ditch their party for greener pastures.

DAP and PAS with their own set of ideologies have been in our local political scenes since the 60s while PKR only existed in the 90s. Many people think that the party is set up for Anwar alone.

Surely after more than a year running the states, the opposition should have gotten past its teething problems. However the reality is quite the opposite. Public squabbling among party members and PKR assemblypersons being forced to quit their seats has not endeared the party to the public.

Pakatan Rakyat has to get their act together and speak with one voice if they still harbour the thought of forming the next federal government. Never assume that the people's support is still with you if your solemn promise to better the standard of living of the common people is not fulfilled.

It is a Hobson's choice really for voters in the country to make their choices in the next polls. Should they vote for the incumbent government with all the corrupt practice and abuse of power? Or choose the alternative party with its relative inexperience?

I cry for my country as we don't seem to have good leaders who can get us out of our malaise. More often than not our elected leaders seem to be more interested in retaining their high positions at any cost rather than looking at public welfare.

Undi salah, tak undi pun salah (to vote is bad, to not vote is just as bad).
