Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai today said today that two more people have died due to the influenza A(H1N1).

The latest two victims are a seven-month-old boy and a 74-year-old woman.

The number of people killed due to the flu now stands at 64.

Liow also said that 384 new cases have been reported taking the total reported cases to 4,225.

In a statement later, health diirector-general Dr Mohd Ismail Merican said the seven-month-old infant, who suffered from asthma, had been admitted to the ICU on Aug 7 for fever, cough and breathing difficulties over two days.

"However, the infant died on Aug 15 due to severe pneumonia with acute respiratory failure," he said.

As for the other casualty, Mohd Ismail said she had diabetes and cardiac failure.

She was admitted to hospital on Aug 10 after losing consciousness at home. She died on Aug 12 due to severe pneumonia.

He also said many of those infected with influenza A(H1N1) are still not cooperating in controlling the spread of the disease.

"Those with influenza symptoms must understand that although the symptoms are light, the H1N1 virus can still spread to others when they cough or sneeze," he said.

He reiterated that those with symptoms should stay home and avoid going to public places, the work place or school until the symptoms disappear.
