MIC Youth wing national coordinator T Mohan today won the contest to be the wing's chief for the next three years after defeating challenger SP Muthuveloo.

Mohan obtained 321 votes while Muthuveloo garnered 148 votes.

In the race for the number two post, MIC Youth political bureau chief V Mugilan defeated Kahang assemblyperson R Vidyananthan by 266 to 204 votes.

MIC Youth coordinator T Mohan 01052009Mohan's lineup also won most of the central committee seats.

Meanwhile Wanita wing chief P Komala Devi managed to retain her seat by defeating challenger and deputy S Thangasvari by 26 votes. Komala obtained 238 votes while Thangasvari gained 212 votes.

The deputy's post was won by Dr CV Prema of Perak who defeated Negeri Sembilan Wanita MIC chief Dr P Thanaletchumi by getting 279 votes to 172.

The results were announced by party president S Samy Vellu at about 6.20pm.

A total of 541 MIC Youth delegates and 572 Wanita delegates voted for their respective leaders for the next three years.
