Closed-circuit television footage retrieved from Plaza Masalam has shown DAP political aide Teoh Beng Hock entering the building through the lobby on the 4th floor at 18:08:55 hours on July 15.

NONEThis was revealed by Inspector Mohd Zulaimi Zubir (right) who viewed the footage to check at what time Teoh had entered the building to be questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Testifying at the Teoh inquest today, Mohd Zulaimi said he was asked by his superior to review the CCTV recording seized at 7pm on July 17.

The recording was played at the inquest for the coroner to view.

Mohd Zulaimi, from the Shah Alam police headquarters' crime department, said there was no footage of Teoh leaving the building.

The footage of Teoh entering the building only showed him from the back, but Mohd Zulaimi said he recognised it as Teoh, based on his clothes.

Mohd Zulaimi, who is also one of the investigating officers in the case, said the police forensic team managed to retrieve 47 images from the CCTV recordings captured at Plaza Masalam.

"I retrieved the CCTV recordings at the Plaza Masalam lobby between midnight July 16 and 7am on July 16," he said.

The next day, Mohd Zulaimi returned to the building to seize the log book of MACC invesigating officer Mohd Anuar Ismail, who was in charge of the case.

Accrding to the log book, Mohd Anuar had only made entries on July 8 for the period spanning July 1-15.

Teoh had been summoned by the Selangor MACC on July 15 to give a witness statement. The political secretary to Selangor exco Ean Yong Hian Wah was found dead on Level 5 of Plaza Masalam the following afternoon.

The inquest before coroner Azmil Muntapha Abas is into its sixth day to find out the cause of Teoh's death. It broke for an hour-long lunch break at 1pm.

Grilled by Teoh's lawyer

When the inquest continued after lunch, lawyers Gobind Singh Deo and Malik Imtiaz Sarwar cross-examined Mohd Zulaimi on his testimony.

To a question by Gobind, acting for the Teoh family, the police officer said a MACC officer had told him that Teoh was a MACC witness.

Gobind then asked Mohd Zulaimi if he had taken any details of that MACC officer to which the witness said he had not.

Mohd Zulaimi said it was not necessary to do so as he was not instructed to do that by his superiors.

"I was asked to guard the body and the area," he said.

Gobind appeared dismayed at the response and tried to prompt a favourable answer from the witness.

"In a scene like that, if someone approaches and says that they know the witness, is it not your duty to collect their details?" asked Gobind.

Although Mohd Zulaimi agreed with Gobind, he kept saying that it was not his duty.

Gobind also quizzed Mohd Zulaimi on his first impression after seeing Teoh's sprawled body.

Gobind: As a police officer, in your opinion, did the deceased look like he plunged or like he was pushed?

Mohd Zulaimi: At that time, that was what I thought but then the investigation officer clarified that he could have been either pushed or fallen.

Pathologist fallen ill

Mohd Zulaimi took the witness stand earlier than scheduled, because the witness who was supposed to testify today has been taken ill.

NONEPathologist Dr Khairul Azman Ibrahim, who started testifying yesterday was unable to continue as he is not feeling well.

Khairul, who wore a mask yesterday (photo), testified that the cause of Teoh's cause was multiple injuries due to a fall.

He was to have been cross-examined by the lawyers acting for the Teoh family as well as by lawyers for the Selangor government and the Bar Council.

However at the start of the inquest at 10.35am, government-appointed lawyer Tan Hock Huan, who is assisting coroner Azmil, informed the inquest that the pathologist is unwell and could not take part today.

Khairul had complained of a sore throat even while testifying yesterday.

Tan said the other pathologist, Dr Prashant Naresh Samberkar, who conducted the post-mortem on Teoh jointly with Khairul, is also unwell and could not testify today.

Phone analyst called in

The last witness for the day was another police officer - Inspector Zaidi Abu Hassan from the Bukit Aman forensics department. He was the person who had analysed Teoh's mobile phone.

However Tan only asked this witness on the brand of the handheld device and the other parts of the device. He did not go into the specifics of the Zaidi's analysis.

The inquest is set to continue tomorrow with two police forensic officers, Mazli Jusoh and Shahrul Osman, from Selangor and Bukit Aman respectively, taking the witness stand.

The coroner also requested for both the pathologists to be present tomorrow if they are well.

The fear of the spread of the deadly A(H1N1) flu was visible in the courtroom with many people, including Tan and several reporters, wearing face masks.
