Liu: I'm under seven-front attack

Selangor state executive councillor Ronnie Liu claims he is facing a seven-front assault from within and without the DAP because he is considered too outspoken.

He alleged in Tuesday's Chinese press that those involved come from the ranks of the police, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the Barisan Nasional as well as former Selangor Menteri Besar Mohd Khir Toyo, aside from some within the three-party Pakatan Rakyat.

"Actually some are the same people, and I can make an educated guess on the identity of the master mind behind them," he said.

Liu (right) said, before he became an exco, he had exposed many cases of BN's abuse and malpractices, hence these rivals "hated him with a vengeance", and launched personal attacks against him.

He added that the accusations levelled against him are untrue and unethical, for example, some charged him with issuing licences for horse racing gaming machines.

"But in fact, local government has no power over issuing such licences, these are issued by the Ministry of Finance. Yet some people throw these unwarranted accusations against the local government and me."

Ronnie Liu holds the portfolio of local government, research and review in the Selangor state government.

Power earns dislike

He reasoned that the huge power in his hands and the fact that he's often the Selangor government's spokesperson could have earned him the dislike of some Pakatan and DAP members who wanted to sabotage him.

On the accusation that he allowed his office to be used as a gangster meeting place, Ronnie retorted, "These (accusations) are from the same camp and the DAP, they are spreading rumours without knowing the truth, to tarnish my image."

"In my own party, there are also those with different political ideals, and purposely go against me. I'm a straight forward person, and express my stand on everything, but there are some who disagree (with me).

"I know who they are, but since we are colleagues, I choose not to reveal their identities"

Liu pointed out that is widely known that he has no absolute power in the selection of local councillors but when the public announcement of the list is delayed some point the finger at him.

"I don't want to name these people, actually one party was unable to hand in their list, hence causing the delay, and (they) accuse me of being responsible. This is not right."

Liu:Party comes first

He said, for the sake of "saving the face" of fellow party members, he didn't want to disclose the actual facts.

As for the police and MACC, Ronnie feels that since he had frequently criticized them, and clashed with them over issues such as SOS Damansara, Cheras Makhota, Rawang High tension Cable, PKFZ, Teoh Beng Hock death, it is obvious that they hate him.

He suspects that the "Truth for Teoh Beng Hock" blog, which accused him and another exco member Ean Yong Hian Wah of abusing their constituency allocations, may be the doing of the MACC, since they are the ones who possess such information.
