Bar Council chief must enlighten us
I am not a lawyer nor profess to know about the law. However I will just try to speak my thoughts and questions like all ordinary citizens out there, into a public forum, which has strong ideology on everything that is about the government in power and in whatever they do, and that is the Malaysiakini website.
I will start off by observing the continuous feeling and insecurity of the people who, and I might say the complete grouping of the opposition PKR, always immediately condemn whatever the government does, without really giving any thought to the issues at hand, the feelings of supporters of the ruling party, and lastly, in the case of Teoh's family, who like me I must add, have no clue what is an RCE, or an inquest, but with the generous help of the opposition naysayers, insist that an RCE as stated by Najib and also the inquest, must be a conspiracy or is not the way to do it.
Why have these people started to jump about and comment and condemn, and strangely doing all this, before anything has taken place, and we are allowed to start gauging it's effectiveness and the impending outcome after the RCE and or the inquest begins, especially if Teoh was killed, and how was Teoh treated by the MACC, and how MACC does things and will they be allowed to do them again. This is also to give the 'MACC killed him' believers, the MACC and the government have no morals and start killing people this way, a chance to restructure their thoughts to a stronger position, or review their thoughts and really look for the truth.
As a unknown citizen, I am extremely upset at Teoh's death, and can only believe it was criminal, but who is the criminal and who committed the crime is what I want to know. Can the RCE identify that? Is it in their scope and parametres to come to this conclusion? Can someone out there, especially Mr Ragunath Kesavan of the Bar Council tell me and the millions of Malaysians out there, how?
Does Mr Kesavan know it is easy to criticize when everybody is doing it, but will you please write to Malaysiakini why you as a lawyer of repute, the Bar Council chief, thinks it is not correct to have a RCE and an inquest, rather then just criticize everything.
Mr Kesavan, detail how they will come to the conclusion of how Teoh was killed, as we now know he fell out the window, whether he was pushed, forced to jump or thrown out? Only the police, and I might say with concrete evidence, can establish that.
Sadly people like you and the opposition are making such claims without evidence. So I am of the opinion Mr Kesavan, that you, leading the most intellectual group in the country, lawyers, get some of them together, and very quickly write the reasons why Najib's idea is wrong, and why yours and the opposition's is right.
I am sorry Mr Kesavan, I am not picking on you, you picked on yourself when you commented, and be responsible, as you are leading the Bar, and if you and the Bar cannot tell us, then who can?
