JTB: I find it difficult to comprehend why the prosecution cannot hand over the evidence sought for by Anwar team of lawyers.

The evidence as I understand are medical reports and tape recording of some sort. These evidence will come out sooner or later at the trial.

We the public are beginning to think why and what is so damaging to the prosecution's case if the evidence are disclosed to the defence team?

What is so crucial that will affect other pending criminal proceedings? The facts of the case is quite straight forward.

Saiful claims that he was sodomised by Anwar. Relevant to the case are the medical records and findings by the doctors who inspected him.

Medical records will show whether there was penetration or not. Then the second stage would be to prove that Anwar did it and they will have to prove the time place and date.

Think about it, there is nothing complex about it.

Prema Narayan: We Malaysians exactly know that Sivakumar is the legitimate Speaker of the Perak State Assembly whereas Ganesan is a mere reject as MIC was completely wiped out from Perak.

Ganesan could not and should not claim to be a speaker as he was not elected as Perak State Assembly Speaker as the House on May 7 was not properly constituted.

Ganesan does not even know the rules and proceeding of a State Assembly and it is a disgrace and shameful for him to claim the Speakers chair.

All proceedings should be done after the Royal speech The Speaker did not allow for the election of any new Speaker on that black May 7.

Ganesan could not just claim to be a speaker by just donning on the speakers robes, using Criminal force, kidnapping and imprisonment threats on the Speaker.

Ganesan has committed a serious criminal offence and should be charged for using force, kidnapping and imprisonment of the Perak Speaker and usurping the proceeding of the State Assembly.

Cronkite, trusted voice, dies

Saad Hashim: Last week, Walter Cronkite, the anchor for the CBS Evening News from 1962 to 1981 and dubbed 'the most trusted man in America' died at his home in New York at the age of 92.


The esteem that Americans had for Cronkite was highlighted in a 1972 opinion poll that found him more trusted than any politician, religious leader or sports hero.

Cronkite was famous for his calm and honest delivery of news during America's tumultous period which included news on civil unrest, the assassination of President John Kennedy, the Vietnam War, the moon landing, the Cold War and the Watergate scandal that toppled President Richard Nixon.

"More than just the best and most trusted anchor in history, he guided America through our crises, tragedies and also our victories and greatest moments,"said CBS News and sports President Sean McManus.

Fast forward to Malaysia, since TV news came into being in our country, I wonder whether we have achieved some semblance of news that the people can accept as the gospel truth, even if they are.

This lies in the problem that in the beginning TV news were from the Government-owned TV1 and TV2, followed by TV3 and later NTV7.

Through NTV7 TV news gained some credibility but it was short-lived when the station was bought over by Umno-linked Media Prima, which owns TV3 and TV8 and TV9.

At long last villagers in Kg Buah Pala can sigh with relief. A saviour in the formof MIC has arrived to rescue the village from demolition.

The people of Penang would be very glad if MIC can make good its promise to buy the land from the developers to give it back to the villagers.

After all it is the problem created by their comrades , Gerakan and Umno.

How it is going to fund its purchase is none of our business as long as it does not use public fund.

Maybe Maika holdings can chip in some money. Together with Umn , MCA and Gerakan they could launch a campaign to raise the said fund.

I believe there would be hundreds of millionaires and billionaires who are willing to donate to such noble cause.

Oh yes, MIC can get the PM to be the patron of the fund. With PM as patron, those donors would come in droves.

Maybe the fund collected can exceed what MIC had bargained for. Then the extra money can be used to renovate the houses of the villagers to enhance its heritage status.

If all this fails, negotiate with the developer to sell back the land at their original purchase price.

This will be more practical. After all MIC is willing to pay the said price to the state government although the latter is no longer the owner.

I am praying that MIC's plan works !
