DAP's Yew sues Hee for pepper spray attack

DAP's Aulong assemblyperson Yew Tian Hoe has filed a suit against Perak deputy speaker Hee Yit Foong for an alleged assault with a pepper spray during the May 7 assembly sitting.

Yew was accompanied by Perak state secretary Nga Kor Ming and other Pakatan assemblypersons when he arrived at the Ipoh High Court this morning.
As a result of the alleged attack, Yew claimed that he sustained injuries to his left eye, suffered mental shock, distress, trauma and "great humiliation and shame in public".
Hee has denied the allegations.
She claims that the can had been thrown at her and she merely picked and handed it over to Yew.
Outside the court, Yew said that he had given time for Hee to apologise but she had refused.
He said her action was prompted by malice and the act was callous.
Constitutional deadlock
"I suffered insult, loss of dignity and shame, injured feelings and mental distress because the assault and battery had occurred before all the Perak assemblymen," said Yew.
"She had told lies to the mass media claiming that the device held by her had been first a hotel key chain and then a pen-drive variously before admitting that it was actually a pepper spray canister," he added.
He wants Hee to explain to the court why she had lied all along the pepper spray saga.
Yew wants an injunction to restrain the defendant, her agents or servants from any further abuse, assault or battery against him by any means whatsoever.
His claim includes general, aggravated and exemplary damages and any further or other relief which the court deems fit or equitable.
Hee, subsequently has been shunned by the Chinese community in Perak for "leaving and betraying the DAP and supporting the BN.
The act started a change reaction which has led to the current constitutional dead lock in the state.
