On Unity gov't: A united 'no' from Pakatan

T Shan: Its surprising that the Pakatan took such a long time to issue this much awaited news.

It’s obvious that there are much differences between the partners of Pakatan on several issues and this issue of a ‘unity government almost broke Pakatan apart.

Any way this is a much-welcomed news though much damage has been done to the reputation and the image of Pakatan.

Much work needs to be done in Pakatan if it desires to take over the federal government. Firstly, have a common stand on all matters and don't go public on any issue that will break the alliance.

Maybe Karpal and Hadi should adopt a firm stand on this matter. Next, Pakatan only seems to be a ‘word’. We don't have a common logo or a common theme to unite the partners.

A common theme or a logo will give a sense of belonging to the partners and they will cast off their personal agendas and work for a united coalition.

Thirdly, PAS has been a thorn in Pakatan’s side in recent times. One moment they talk of Malaysia, another time they talk of Malay rights etc.

Five decades down the line of independence and we Malaysians have yet to realise the ideal of a Malaysia for all Malaysians regardless of our colour and religion.

At times, I am beginning have my doubts about anyone from PAS except for Tuan Guru Nik Aziz and Nizar who seem consistent in their stand.

Both the No 1 and No 2 of PAS are fast losing their reputations with the non-Malays now as their struggle is always for the Malays and Islam. Please change and fight for all Malaysians.

Maybe, Pakatan should also cast aside PAS and struggle on with PKR and DAP only.

Derek: Pakatan Rakyat has now officially rejected unity talks with BN. The PM says it’s no big deal, BN and Umno can go it alone as ‘we still have the numbers to control the federal government.

Isn’t it amazing how Najib can twist and turn his words just to suit the situation and save face for Umno?

Just a few days back, our DPM was practically bending over backwards to accommodate PAS.

Didn’t our DPM say that he wanted the unity talks to be ‘speeded up’ and there would be no conditions from Umno to talk with PAS?

Now our DPM is as quiet as a mouse because the talks have been rejected outright by Pakatan. I am sure he, too, now will change his tune when just like his boss.

To top it all, Koh Tsu Koon said it was a ‘wayang kulit’ by Pakatan Rakyat all along. Koh should really wake up.

Umno was ready to abandon and trample on its coalition partners’ (essentially MCA, MIC and Gerakan) feelings just days ago to accommodate talks with PAS on Malay unity. T

This general election loser made a senator made a cabinet minister is so beholden to the PM that he can no longer appreciate the reality of the political situation and make an objective assessment and sensible comments.

MCA and Gerakan should seriously reconsider their partnership with Umno and become independent. Umno does not give a hoot about its junior partners.

Please wake up and smell the coffee.

What is he talking about? The needs of the people? What about the needs of the Perak people and the rakyat?

Well, all I can say to him is your political career will be short-lived. Get ready to make way.

And make sure you leave with a clean slate for there is always a way for the past to catch up with you.


On Twists and hysteria: Tee Keat hits back

Ong: On this occasion this 'broken record' (Lim Kit Siang) served an unexpectedly useful purpose.
It resulted in the public release of the PwC Report on the PKFZ scandal.

Without the 'broken record' playing non-stop over the last few years, the PKFZ scandal would almost certainly have been swept under the carpet and forgotten.

The perpetrators would have got off scot-free with billions of our tax-payer ringgit.

The perpetrators will likely still get off scot-free, but at least we know who stole our money.


On Pupil down with A(H1N1), school closes for 1 week

BKI: I think the government is doing a great job in educating the public about the A (H1N1) flu with loads of information posted through the electronic and print media. The awareness level is indeed sufficiently high.

However, what needs to be done now is to educate the doctors running private practices in residential neighborhoods.

My son developed a cough and a sore throat over the last two days and I took him to a clinic in my neighborhood with some questions on H1NI. I was shocked at the ignorance shown by the aged doctor.

To begin with, she said the government was overreacting to this ‘flu thing’ and she is of the opinion that it is just a different strain of flu.

She insists that there is too much hue and cry over the issue.

Having had enough, I left the clinic with cough syrup prescribed for my son with loads of advice but no valuable information.

The thing is, she did not know if my son could be a potential carrier of the HINI virus and she was rambling to cover her lack of knowledge.

As a doctor, I would have expected her to be on top of things.
