Front page:

English newspapers:

New Straits Times frontpaged the rejection of unity talks by Pakatan Rakyat. Prime Minister Najib Razak said the rejection has brought no loss to Barisan Nasional.

Both The Sun and The Star highlighted the closure of SRK Assunta 2 and the suspension of classes in four other schools in Selangor as a preventive step against the H1N1 virus.

Malay newspapers:

Both Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian led with the statement of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak which insisted that Barisan Nasional will remain strong even if the idea of unity government was rejected by Pakatan Rakyat.

Tamil newspapers

Makkal Osai had several issues in its front page - the rejection of the unity government by Pakatan Rakyat, BN's stand to rule on its own, the continuation of dead drama actress K Sujatha's inquest and the closure of a school due to the A(H1N1) influenza.

Tamil Nesan led with Kapar parliamentarian S Manikavasagam facing an arrest warrant if he failed to turn up at Sujatha's inquest.

Malaysia Nanban also reported on the ongoing inquest on Sujatha's sudden death.

It also reported on the cold-blooded murder of a 38-year-old man in Alor Star. The Shah Alam native was undergoing a restricted residence punishment over his alleged involvement in robberies and was shot dead on his way to the Alor Star police station.

Chinese newspapers:

Nanyang Siang Pau, Sin Chew Daily, Oriental Daily News and China Press highlighted the closure of SRK Assunta 2 in Selangor for a week after two consecutive locally-transmitted case of H1N1 within the school were detected.

Editorial:

New Straits Times questioned the effectiveness of civics lessons designed by the Biro Tatanegara (BTN) as allegations that these lessons have included elements of racism were being brought up continuously.

Berita Harian urged the public to cooperate with the government to combat the H1N1 infection in Malaysia.

Utusan Malaysia commended Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for his vision of bringing all Malaysians together through the concept of 1 Malaysia.

Nanyang Siang Pau urged the Malaysian government to increase their effort in fighting the H1N1 virus, and the public to follow whatever instructions given by the Health Ministry in preventing the infection of this virus.

Sin Chew Daily speculated that the controversies generated by the unity government issue will not end too soon as this issue has been discussed continuously since the general election last year.

China Press called the government to increase the awareness of the public on the prevention of H1N1 through media such as newspapers.

Oriental Daily News discussed the features and characteristics of the six "First Ladies" of Malaysia, and commended the fifth premier Dr Mahathir Mohammad and his wife for their strong and close relationship.

Malaysia Nanban noted that Tamil school students too can become scientists.

Tamil Nesan urged everyone to play their role in fighting the A(H1N1) influenze.
