Kelantan sultan Tuanku Ismail Petra has again sought to distance the palace from the marital row involving his son, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra, and Indonesian model and socialite Manohara Odelia Pinot.

The sultan's office today issued a media release that made it clear that public statements issued by the couple were personal matters.

"Therefore, the sultan should not, and should never, be implicated in this matter," said Kelantan palace official Nik Mahmud Nik Jaffar in the statement.

Police investigating matter

manohara magazine shootHe was referring to a police report lodged by Tengku Muhammad Fakhry on June 11 against his wife and mother-in-law, Daisy Fajarina, following allegations of abuse by Manohara (right) after fleeing from Singapore on May 31.

He said that the palace will leave it to the police to carry out a fair and just investigation into the matter.

Nik Mahmud reiterated that statements issued by the parties are personal.

The palace also said that the sultan is still currently undergoing treatment in Hospital Mount Elizabeth, Singapore.
