BN rep apologises to Husam over false claims

Barisan Nasional's (BN) Paloh assemblyperson Nozula Mat Diah has publicly apologised in Berita Harian today to senior Kelantan exco member Husam Musa over allegations he had made against the latter to the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) and the media on November 2007.

Nozula said he deeply and unconditionally apologises to Husam Musa (right) over the "false and baseless report".
"Following this, I withdraw all the allegations and express regret that it (allegations) had resulted in pressuring Husam and his family and may have tarnished his personal character," he said.
On November 2007, Nozula along with Bukit Bunga assemblyperson Muhd Adhan Kechik filed a report to the ACA, claiming nine cases of mismanagement, corruption, and abuse of power by individuals in the PAS-led government.
In their statements carried the next day by English daily New Straits Times and the Malay-language newspaper Berita Harian - both of which are owned by NSTP - Nozula and Mohd Adhan said the nine cases included alleged mismanagement and abuse of power by Husam.
Among the allegations, they said Husam - who heads the Kelantan state Public Administration, Finance, Economic Planning and Community Development Committee - had mismanaged and taken money for a certain contract and had protected his ‘cronies' within the state's Syarikat Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd.
Following their statements, Nozula (left) and Mohd Adhan had been suspended a few days from the Kelantan state legislative assembly by the then speaker, Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah.
Meanwhile, Husam who is also a candidate for PAS deputy presidency, filed a RM6-million-suit on Jan 31, 2008 against the two assemblypersons and the New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd (NSTP).
The suit has been fixed for case management at the Kuala Lumpur civil court on June 16.
Lawyer: Apology shows that Husam is clean
According to Husam's lawyer, Ahmad Shabrimi Mohamed Sidek, the notice of apology today has proven that his client was innocent in the baseless and false claims.
"This also meant that the Kelantan government is clean of any wrongdoing. We will continue with the negotiation process with the remaining two defendants," he said.
Ahmad Shabrimi said the slander, which was widely reported in the two newspapers, had resulted in his client to be under deep public scrutiny with the baseless allegations under media glare.
The apology is seen as a boost to Husam who is in a three-cornered fight against incumbent Nasharuddin Mat Isa and also fierce orator Mohammad Sabu for the PAS deputy presidency this weekend.
