'When all else fails, we will turn to people's power'

Pakatan Rakyat will turn to the 'people’s court' for judgement after all avenues are exhausted in their endeavour to dissolve the state legislative assembly and call for fresh state elections.
Pakatan Rakyat Menteri Besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin told Malaysiakini : 'We will turn to the people's court if all our options to dissolve the assembly fails.'
Pakatan Rakyat will turn to the “people’s court” for judgement after all avenues are exhausted in their endeavour to dissolve the state legislative assembly and call for fresh state elections.
Pakatan Rakyat Menteri Besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin told Malaysiakini: “We will turn to the people’s court if all our options to dissolve the assembly fails.”
“It is the rakyat that has elected us to office and as such we have to go back to them for a fresh mandate to once again allow Pakatan Rakyat to rule the state.”
“We have been knocking at various doors of the monarchy (Perak Sultan Azlan Shah), the executive (Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak), and the judiciary (High Court, Court of Appeal and the Federal Court) for our democratic rights.”
“We will continue to test all avenues and options open to us and when we have exhausted them, we will then turn to the people’s power for an answer to the problem.”
It has been an uphill struggle to gain due recognition for their legal status as Perak Menteri Besar for Nizar and as Perak State Assembly Speaker for V Sivakumar.
High Court rules Nizar is the rightful MB
In their fight for their democratic rights, the duo had to face the might of the Barisan Nasional’s political machinery, and its ability to control resources and manpower in terms of civil servants and police.
It has been a roller coaster legal ride for Nizar. On May 11, High Court justice Abdul Aziz ruled that Nizar is the legal and rightful mentri besar of Perak and not Zambry. This gave Nizar a seven-hour rule of the state the following day.
On May 12, Zambry got his “express stay” order on the High Court ruling, which was granted by the Court of Appeal justice Ramly Ali and Nizar was out of office.
Nizar ‘s lawyer Leong Cheok Keng had questioned why Zambry got an express stay order on the same day of application while Nizar’s application to set aside the stay order, despite having a certificate of urgency, was posted for hearing today and then deferred to Thursday.
Come Thursday, the Court of Appeal will hear Zambry’s appeal against the High Court ruling that Nizar is the rightful menteri besar of Perak and also Nizar’s application to set aside the stay of execution order granted to Zambry, which will become academic after the court rules on Zambry.
Nizar is seeking a three-man bench to overturn the stay order granted by the Court of Appeal.
Since February, both Nizar and Zambry have both been in a tussle as to who is the rightful and legal menteri besar of Perak.
Another question that counsel from both sides are asking is why are there no written judgements given by the judges in the legal feud between Zambry and Nizar.
