Embattled PPP leader T Murugiah has received a bullet casing and a note which warned him against contesting for any posts in the coming party elections.

t murugiahIt is learnt that the casing and note were left in a parcel outside his office in Putrajaya.

Murugiah, who is the deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department, discovered the parcel at about 2pm.

ever contest Dato M Kayveas (PPP president) not only presidents (sic) post but don (sic) contest any post in party PPP elections. Don't be a hero, i will finish you.

"Don't fight, if not this (sic) bullet shells will turn into life (sic) bullet in your head Bang! Bang!"

'Deputy minister is shaken'


Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur police chied Mohd Sabtu Osman said the bullets were 9mm shells.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

Murugiah's ties with the party president have soured of late, which resulted in the former being removed from the party's supreme council.

Both Kayveas and Murugiah could not be reached for comments.

"The deputy minister is a bit shaken by the incident. We believe that it is politically motivated because his popularity has soared," said an aide of Murugiah who declined to be named.

One of the deputy minister's aide later held a press conference at Putrajaya regarding the incident.

Recently, sources told Malaysiakini that Murugiah's growing popularity has been a bitter pill to swallow for the party's top leadership, fuelling jealousy of his sudden rise in political fortune.

kayveasSources said Murugiah's fame is also on the rise within the party and this has caused alarm in certain circles, in particular party boss Kayveas, with regards to his political ambitions.

"He has not only carved a name for himself as far as the public is concerned but also in the party with some even considering him as a potential contender for the top post with a very high chance of winning," they said

Kayveas had also admitted that his relationship with Murugiah was anything but peachy.

"He doesn't communicate with me. He doesn't see me, talk to me and doesn't come to the headquarters... I don't know what's on his mind," he had said.
