Nizar to Zambry: Quit now

Pakatan Rakyat's ousted menteri besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin has urged Barisan Nasional's Zambry Abd Kadir and six executive councillors to vacate their posts with immediate effect.
Pakatan Rakyat's ousted menteri besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin has urged Barisan Nasional's Zambry Abd Kadir and six executive councillors to vacate their posts with immediate effect.
This is following the Kuala Lumpur High Court's decision to declare Mohammad Nizar as the rightful menteri besar.
In an immediate reaction, Zambry was quoted in Bernama as saying that he accepted the court's decision with an open heart.
"Me and my friends will take the next action according to the law," he said.
"We will pack up and vacate the office as soon as possible," he added.
Mohammad Nizar meanwhile left to Ipoh soon after the decision, stating that he would be seeking an immediate audience with Perak ruler Sultan Azlan Shah.
Mohammad Nizar must get the sultan's consent to dissolve the state assembly in order to hold fresh elections.
However the sultan is believed to be out of the country and the Regent of Perak has agreed to meet Mohammad Nizar tomorrow morning.
Mohammad Nizar will also be holding a late night Pakatan exco meeting, to be followed by an early morning state Pakatan leaders meeting.
In a statement, Mohammad Nizar said the judgment means that the law and constitution are the true winners.
Calling judge Abdul Aziz Abd Rahim a brave and courageous person, Mohammad Nizar said everyone would benefit by the judgment "because an independent judiciary is absolutely essential for the well-being of any country and its people".
He also said that all previous decisions made by Zambry and his exco members were "subject to review but not invalidated until further notice except for the calling of the May 7 sitting".
Suspend the state legal advisor
Mohammad Nizar further urged that the state illegal adviser Ahmad Kamal Md Shahid be suspended with immediate effect.
He said an exco meeting will be held as soon as possible.
"(And) we reiterate that the House should be dissolved as per the resolution as per the assembly under the tree on March 3," he said.
In an immediate reaction, opposition stalwart Lim Kit Siang commended the ruling.
"This is a great judgment. This is the first time the court has restored public confidence in the judiciary," he said.
However, BN could still have the upper hand with regard to the state assembly, especially with its numerical strength.
Along with its appointed speaker R Ganesan, the BN bloc can call for an emergency sitting where a motion of no-confidence can be moved against Mohammad Nizar.
With its '28 + 3' assemblypersons as opposed to Pakatan's 28, BN should have no problem in pushing the motion through.
However Mohammad Nizar felt that V Sivakumar was the rightful speaker.
"There is only one speaker, namely Sivakumar and the decision to have Ganesan as the speaker is not valid," he said.
Victory for the people
Batu MP and PKR's strategy director Tian Chua said this is a victory of the people and was glad that the judge had seen through all this.
"We had hoped that the judiciary would be independent in its ruling and we are glad that the judge see to our points," he said.
PAS vice-president Husam Musa said he hoped the Perak sultan would now give his consent for new polls.
"It is not about whether we are confident of winning the state again or not but it is a matter of principle for us to go back to the voters to resolve the political impasse that has existed for the past three months," he told AFP.
