Renegade DAP member of parliament Goh Kheng Huat is believed to have replied to the show-cause letter issued by the partys disciplinary committee although he had considered not doing so earlier.

A party source told malaysiakini that Goh, the MP for Nibong Tebal, has sent by courier, his letter to the disciplinary committee headed by Chong Eng and all central executive committee (CEC) members today.

Goh, 39, was said to have written his reasons for helping Keadilan in the recent Indera Kayangan by-election despite a party directive to all members to stay away.

The source added that Goh, who is also a CEC member, may have asked for leniency. It is uncertain, though, whether Goh has apologised for going against the ban.

When contacted, Goh refused to comment on the matter.

Meanwhile, another party source claimed that Goh has been bullied by Penang DAP leaders, particularly Chong.

The source said Goh, who has been a DAP member since he was 18, is being distanced by state leaders.

Though an MP, he is often left out and has not been appointed to any party post in Penang. This makes him look bad, said the source who requested anonymity.

Whenever there are DAP functions, he is not invited by the state leaders but instead learns about it from others, the source added.

Chong Eng, when contacted, said she has yet to receive Gohs letter.

She also denied there was any truth in the allegations against her and other state leaders with regard to distancing Goh.

It is not good for me to comment as whatever I say would be prejudicial to Gohs case, Chong said.

On Dec 31, the DAP CEC resolved not to get involved in the Jan 19 by-election and barred party members from joining in the campaign which lasted for nine days.

The committee said since the party has withdrawn from the Barisan Alternatif, there was no need for it to join the campaign.

It also does not want to be seen as supporting the Islamic state espoused by PAS, Keadilans ally in BA.
