I am glad that malaysiakini has not neglected the Indian Malaysian community. I am also glad that many educated Indian Malaysians are becoming more daring in expressing the feelings and sentiments of the community.

It shows that there are not enough channels for Indian Malaysians to air their different opinions freely. While the English and national language newspapers are monopolised by Umno and MCA, the Tamil media are completely controlled by MIC and other BN politicians.

Indeed, Dr Murugesu S (Keadilan a true national party, Jan 28) is right in saying that there is now a need for all Malaysians to consider themselves as Malaysian outside the ideological frameworks and organisations set by Umno, MCA and MIC which were parties only for peasants, coolie and indentured labour during the colonial era. They do not fit into the modern scheme of things now.

Instead of always blaming others for 'looking down' on us Indian Malaysians, isn't it time to take up the offer by Keadilan and be an equal Malaysian struggling with the Malay Muslim, Chinese Malaysian and others for common goals and universal values? Why stay in separate hotel rooms when there is a home for all now?

Wake up, Indian Malaysians! Di mana bumi dipijak, di sana langit dijunjung. (Place your loyalty to your country.)
