I refer to Muslim Student's letter Don't blame 'the other' criticising Din Merican's letter Enough is enough!, whom I fully support.

I am really surprised that there are many Malaysians who, by stretching their imagination, blamed the government for the Nilai incident when it was a straightforward case of Indonesian workers' refusal to comply with our Malaysian laws.

Does Muslim Student know that the Indonesian workers destroyed a police car (something unheard of before in Malaysia), stood on rooftops waving the Indonesian flag and banner with the words "Kami Indon" (We're Indonesians) on it?

Muslim Student's contention that we owe our good life to the Indonesian workers is somewhat a confused argument. The good life that we enjoy, and the availability of jobs are the result of Malaysia being a peaceful country.

Muslim Student's claims that they or their children were denied an education is totally false and an indication of his ignorance of what's happening in Malaysia. In Sabah, the immigrant workers' children attend regular government schools and are also entitled to welfare aid like free shoes, uniforms and milk, given three times a week. RTM even broadcast an hour-long "Tagalog programme" over the radio for the "entertainment of our beloved" Filipino (mostly illegal) immigrants in Sabah.

Please, let's remove our blinkers and see the situation as it really is. We owe no obligation to the Indonesian workers. Our stand on this matter should be very clear: We need and welcome migrant workers who respect our laws. If the Indonesians find it hard to comply and respect our laws, we should take in others who will.
