I refer to the Malaysiakini report Pakatan keeps 2 'bukits', BN wins Btg Ai.

The recent by-elections have revealed a number of things for the new prime minister to consider:

1. People are just fed-up with the rhetoric and arrogance of the BN government; and

2. To the man-on-the-street the government has been very unfair to the public and the minority races.

a. The death of suspects in the police lock-ups and the slow investigations makes the public feel that the policemen have been protected for so long. The Inspector-General of Police and other officers must be made accountable.

The time for lying and explaining away facts is over. A just and fair police department is needed. The PM needs to revamp the PDRM and send the officers and all to a new motivation camp.

b. The MACC probes are all a farce. Nothing constructive has come out of government officials caught for corruption. It seems the BN government is protecting these people.

The PM has to stop sheltering these government personnel if he is going to be an acceptable PM

c. The detention of the Hindraf leaders and other detainees in Kamunting under ISA is unfair, inhuman and draconian. The government should, in fact, listen to what the Hindraf people have to say about the injustices faced by the Indians and the ineffectiveness of the MIC.

It is because you do not listen to them that they have to resort to street demonstrations. It is very clear that the BN government wants to see the Hindraf detainees rot away in Kamunting.

As long as the detainees are there, the BN will lose all their elections. Think of the wives and children and families suffering because of the government’s injustice. Where is your compassion?

d. Stop the brain drain. The neighbouring countries and the West want our best students and graduates except our own country. How can we have excellence in our government departments and private sector when only the mediocre are sitting in executive positions?

If we want the country to prosper and excel, we need to be objective and put forward the very best. Let us not deceive ourselves. We have people who are holding responsible positions in government and statutory bodies who are not the best.

That is why we see roads caving in, floods everywhere, unplanned and dangerous developments all over, unsolved crime, Mat Rempit all over, etc. There is no problem that cannot be solved. People must be more intelligent than problems. If we place intelligent people at the top, our problems will be solved.

If people are only interested in using their positions to make money, then the work suffers, the rakyat suffers, progress is nil, everything collapses. If the PM is really keen to change the nation, then he must look into these problems and many more. Then the rakyat will vote BN back into office.

e. If the PM is really interested in the rakyat, then he must be seen to be fair to all and not just to a particular race. It must include both East and West Malaysia. We must not keep helping only the rich Malays who seem to be getting richer while there are so many poor Malays who are in need of help.

He must look into the needs of the poor Indians and Chinese too. The politically-connected Indians, Chinese and Malays seem to be getting richer; even their children are doing well in business.

What about those who are not politically-connected. No wonder many people want to get involved in politics and get voted in. The recent by-election at Bukit Selambau revealed many would want to stand as Independents.

Why? Is it because there is money in politics? Maybe it is time we separate the genuine politicians from the false ones. Then we will see who really wants to serve the rakyat.

I am a citizen of this nation and I love this country. I have friends of all races and I love them. It is injustice and unfairness that I hate. Every religion speaks of justice and fairness but for the sake of position, power and politics, we throw these out the window.

May God help our nation. May God bless the new PM as he leads the country and overcomes his own problems.
