Keadilan needs to do more to win Chinese support
If Umno were a racist club, MCA, a businessmen club and Gerakan, a career advancement club, Keadilan would be "Free Anwar's club".
I have not heard it articulate any policies on economic management of the country. What is heard from Keadilan is always democracy and justice. Who doesn't know to shout these empty slogans?
Its members are like those of Umno their only forte being organisation of demonstrations and even then with help of PAS' supporters.
I don't see any particular reason why Chinese Malaysians should support it more than the other parties, say for instance, DAP.
Keadilan has a record of recruiting DAP's members when they were in collaboration. It has not taken any stand to contradict ketuanan Melayu (Malay supremacy).
It has always sidetracked the issue of PAS' advocacy of an Islamic state. Its Youth vice chief was so insensitive as to relate Perlis Mentri Besar's loss of his son to a "signal from God". It was almost like words spilled from a Taliban's mouth.
It lost talents like Dr Chandra Muzaffar, and of late, even some state party leaders, and could not attract popular locals like Dr Por Choo Chor to be its candidate in the Indera Kayangan by-election.
It is always playing second fiddle to PAS. It even contradicted its own patron Anwar Ibrahim. The only consistency of political principles it has displayed is its inconsistency.
Though BN has its faults, the onus is on Keadilan to show it can do better. So far, nothing that it has said or done, has shown it could do better.
